No Staying Still in NOvember

What do you notice about a block and play-doh?

Some of the things we noticed are that blocks are hard and you can't change them where as play-doh is soft and changeable. Why were we talking about blocks and play-doh? We learned about growth mindset! Then we talked about how we have learned things that we didn't know or know how to do before, and there are reasons why we learned them.
What is your child's favorite part of the day? After lunch and recess, it might be writing time!

We've been learning so much in writing. Lately, we've been focusing on writing the letters for each sound we hear, using the word wall, and writing a whole bunch! Putting spaces between words has been a focus, too. I am impressed with how much writing we have accomplished.

We can't forget about reading. I've probably mentioned before that we are Super Readers with super powers to go along with it! Ask your child two things: which super power he or she is really good at, and which super power is a goal?

We celebrated all of our reading successes by celebrating with our fifth grade buddies. We told our buddies about our super powers, read some of our books, and then our buddies read to us. It was a great way to spend a Friday!

Ok, math might really be a favorite. In the past few weeks, we have worked with calculators (many asked where they could find the games--ha!), making a reading a graph, recognizing and describing shapes without our eyes, and continuing to work on sorting. We've been working with numbers: sorting, ordering, comparing, and writing them, too. Lastly, we learned how to play some new math games on the computers.

It's been a busy time, as always! No sitting still in NOvember!
