The Friday Five--Week Five

1. What a way to cap off the week--Blue and Gold spirit day and the Homecoming Parade!  Thank you to our fifth grade buddies who took good care of us during the parade.
Thanks for showing us kindness! Today during our leadership time, we practiced being kind by making cards and saying thank you to our custodians.

Here's our latest video we sent to the custodians.
2. We learned the difference between private reading and partner reading this week, and boy am I impressed with our progress so far.  In addition, we continue to learn how books work and how to read them.

3. Last week we spent time reading the pictures, and this week we learned that readers don't just see things, they read things.  We toured the school looking for things to read.  I was a happy teacher each time I heard students reading the words they found around the room and other parts of the school.

4. We've been telling stories since school began, but this week we started drawing our stories.  We worked on drawing who was in our story, where the story takes place, and what happened.  We practiced being detailed so that anyone can tell what our story is about, and we worked on narrowing our story to one event.

5. It was a spirit filled week!  Besides the Blue and Gold day, we had Pajama Day and Super Hero Day.  What fun!

Have a great weekend!
