Ask Your Child

Ask your child what he or she knows about the word part.  We talked about how a part is a piece or a portion of a whole.

We talked about animal parts.  Legs are part of an animal.  How does an animal use its legs?  Would the animal change if the legs weren't a part of it?  Feet, wings, and tails can be parts of animals, too. Animals have heads.  What parts are on a head?

We can take care of our parts.  What does care mean?  Can we care for ourselves?  In which ways? Who can care for us?  Does a baby need care?  Why?  Do parents need care?  Why?

How are the words baby and adult related?  How are the words young and baby related?  How are the words adult and parent related?  Are all parents adults?  Are all adults parents?

Ask your child,and encourage your child to speak in complete sentences.

Part, legs, feet, wings, tail, head, care, baby, parent, adult, and young are all recent vocabulary words.
