1. We worked on independent reading this week. We had two goals. The first goal was to read the pictures. All week we learned to take a look at the pictures and figure out what is happening in the story. We studied the pictures and looked for details to help us understand the story. We asked ourselves questions like "Who is in the story?" and "What is happening so far?" We talked about how the pictures match the words on the page, and we practiced reading some words, too. Our other goal was to read the whole time and build our independent reading stamina. We made a video of our thoughts on independent reading.
Here are some pictures I took this week. See if you child can read the pictures and tell you what we were doing.
2. Speaking of reading, here are the books we've read this week. Ask your child about his or her favorite. Also, ask him or her what happened in the book since we've been working on retelling a story.
3. We learned some new words in math class this week. Stay tuned to see what we learned. Also, we went on number hunt to find numbers. Where can you find numbers outside of school?
4. One of our favorite activities of the week was exploring with pattern blocks. Ask your child what he or she can do with pattern blocks.
5. Did you get to see us exploring, creating, and collaborating? If not, click here.
Enjoy the three-day weekend!
