1. We read many new books this week. We spent time building our independent, or private, reading stamina, and we are working on retelling what we've read in order. In addition, we're learning about front covers and titles. Ask your child which one was his or her favorite. There is a good chance it will be Tough Boris, I bet! Ask your child about what a linger finger is and why we use it for reading.
2. We've have been learning how to get along with others and how to solve problems when we disagree or when we need help. Here are some of the charts we've made to help us learn how to get along with others.
We've been working in our notebooks as well. Ask your child what adult can help us when we have a problem we cannot solve on our own.
3. Part of being a leader is being kind. During the past two weeks, we've focused on ways we can be kind. We thought of many examples, and we're doing a good job of applying it in the classroom. This week we focused on kind words to say.
4. In math we've focused on two things: numbers and counting. We learned a new game called count and sit. Ask your child how to play! Also, we learned that we're all five now, and boy are we excited to turn six! We collected data on when our classmates birthday are celebrated. We used words like most, more, fewer, less than, and least when talking about birthdays this week.
A lot packed in to four days! :)
