Ask your child about something he or she likes to do together with you as a family. Is it dance, sing, cook, eat, laugh or something else?
What does your child like to do together with friends? Is it dance, sing, cook, eat, laugh or something else? (Together, dance, sing, cook, eat, and laugh are the vocabulary words for this week).
When you and your child read together this week, ask your child to find the front cover, the back cover, and the title page. Ask your child what information readers can find on the front cover (here's a hint: the title tells us what the book is going to be about, the picture helps us know what the book is going to be about, and the names of the author and illustrator can be found on the front cover). This information helps our brains start thinking about what we already know about the book and what predictions we might make as to what we are going to be reading.
Ask your child to think of words that begin with the letter t.
Ask your child how to write these capital letters: H, K, L
Ask your child the polite way to introduce himself or herself to a friend.
Ask your child what these words are: a, my, see, of, has, is
Ask your child what kind of weather we're having in September. How does he or she know?
Ask your child to show you what a ten frame looks like.
Ask your child what he or she likes best about school; we're almost 30 days into kindergarten!
